It seems like America has lost its honor.
Don't get me wrong. I am not a Trump fan--or should I say, the president-elect fan. Whether I like it or not though, he is the president elect. As part of my heart goes out to all those people who are protesting his win and trying to have their voices heard. The other part, the, perhaps wiser part, is thinking: what has become of us? What has become of America? What ever happened to the United States? Aren't we united anymore? We all have come from different cultures, different religions, and more importantly, different opinions. And yet, suddenly we are all divided? I posted president Obama's speech on my facebook to show my head and my voice in all of this...for America, it is more important than ever to unite.
Yet, the other part of me is thinking, but is that really a way to create change in this world? Creating change involves fighting for it and pushing against the boundaries and sometimes...sadly so...dividing in order to become whole again. And if that is the case, then maybe going out and protesting and pushing against the lines is the way to go to have our voices be heard. Because if we just sit back like pretty statues then maybe this isn't the free country that we all signed up for??
And then there's the whole ego issue. I feel like politics has this incredibly negative energy about it that just sucks you in and makes you its puppet. So when you really think you are your own person with your own mind and ideologies, you are actually sucked into this vortex of negativity and fighting until you win and just feeding your ego more and more until you really do win and have your way.
I just told Hamed I'm writing about the elections when asked what I'm writing about...what he doesn't know is that I've taken politics to a whole new level!
